Compositing
Digital Compositing Philosophy
While in the film industry, digital compositing is ultimately about working with images - about how digital image data is stored and represented - it is actually much much more. There is both an art and science to digital compositing, in essence it transforms into a compositing philosophy. This series (latest five shown on this page) is just my personal journey into and through this field; never emerging, just constantly learning.
Below is a list of just a few compositions created and the overall approach used. Sharing the creation philosophy, along with the results, is the Da Vincian way. If you are interesting in seeing a more complete set, please take some time to see Live The Dream Films Vimeo site. The site contains over 80 composition of different characteristics and more are being added every week.
Some say that Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks started out as just a way for him to improve the quality of his paintings. Through these simple bounded books of paper, he studied anatomy, machines, plants, and rocks. However, somewhere along the line, somewhere back in time, his simple books became more than that. They became a record, for those that followed, of his fascination with life itself. I hope too, that one day these compositions will become my digital notebooks chronicling similar fascinations.
